Scríobh Colleen (10U) scéal gairid faoi thaiscéalaí a tháinig ar oileán tréigthe. B'oileán galánta é, le dúlra agus ainmhithe ann. D'imigh an taiscéalaí ón oileán leis an scéal a scaipeadh agus d'fhill sé blianta ina dhiaidh sin le clann s'aige leis an oileán a thaispeáint dóibh. Ar an drochuair, bhí an t-oileán loite agus an dúlra scriosta de bharr tionchar na ndaoine ar domhan.
Thug na moltóirí ardmholadh do Cholleen as siocair gur scríobh sí scéal ábhartha, galánta a mhúscail mothúcháin láidre iontu. Thug siad ardmholadh fosta do Shéimí (9U) agus do Threasa (8C) a chuir isteach ar an comórtas chomh maith.
Beidh píosa Cholleen, a bhuaigh an comórtas réigiúnach, ag dul chun cinn don ghradam náisiúnta anois agus guímid gach rath uirthi.
Recently, students competed in the 'Rotary Ireland Young Writer Competition'. Those wishing to take part had to put a piece of writing together based on the theme 'The Environment'.
Colleen (10U) wrote a short story about an explorer who discovered a deserted island. It was a beautiful island, with nature and animals. The explorer left the island to spread the word and returned years later with his family to show them the island. Unfortunately, the island was ruined and nature was destroyed by human actions on earth.
The judges praised Colleen for writing a relevant, magnificent story which evoked strong emotions in them. They also praised Séimí (9U) and Treasa (8C) who also entered the competition.
Colleen's piece, which won the regional competition, will now go forward for the national award and we wish her every success.
Ar na mallaibh, bhí daltaí ag iomaíocht sa chomórtas scríbhneoireachta 'Rotary Ireland Young Writer Competition'. B'éigean dóibh siúd a bhí ag iarraidh páirt a ghlacadh ann píosa scríbhneoireachta a chuir le chéile a bhí bunaithe ar an téama 'An Timpeallacht'.
