Bhuail daltaí Bhliain 13/14 le haoi speisialta inniu le cúrsaí ollscoile a phlé! Thug an Dr Niall Comer, Uachtarán Chonradh na Gaeilge agus léachtóir Ollscoil Uladh, cuairt ar Ghaelcholáiste Dhoire le cúrsa Gaeilge na hollscoile a chur chun cinn.
Mhínigh sé an réimse leathan ábhar ar an chúrsa agus thug sé roinnt cás-staidéar agus scéalta faoi iar-mhic léinn an chúrsa. Labhair sé ar na conairí san earnáil Ghaeilge i dtaca le gairmeacha agus thairis sin, thug sé léargas ar phobal chathair Dhoire. Ag deireadh na cainte, bhí deis ag daltaí an Ghaelcholáiste go leor ceisteanna a chur ar an Dr faoi shaol na Gaeilge sa domhan mór.
Go raibh gach rath ar na daltaí ina scrúduithe agus sa todhchaí. Ár mbuíochas le Niall as caint spreagúil shuimiúil a thabhairt.
Year 13/14 students met with a special guest today to discuss university matters! Dr Niall Comer, President of Conradh na Gaeilge and lecturer at the University of Ulster, visited Gaelcholáiste Dhoire to promote the university's Irish language course.
He explained the wide range of topics on the course and gave some case studies and stories about the course’s alumni. He spoke about the pathways in the Irish language sector in terms of careers and moreover, he gave an insight into the Derry city community. At the end of the talk, Gaelcholáiste students had the opportunity to ask the Dr many questions about the life of the Irish language in the wider world.
Good luck to the students in their exams and in the future. Our thanks to Niall for giving an inspiring and interesting talk.
