Is é Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann an ócáid is tábhachtaí san fhéilire do cheol traidisiúnta. Do go leor daoine, is toradh na míonna oibre dhéin agus cleachta é agus iad curtha i gcomórtas i gcoinne a gcomhghleacaithe ceoil, amhránaíochta agus rince chun beith aitheanta ar an ardán seo. Tá ard aitheantas tuillte ag Cian a ghlac páirt i gcomórtas na gCláirsí agus Annie a bhí ag iomaíocht ag an Fhleadh chomh maith! Mo cheol sibh!
Agus ní amháin go bhfuil scoth an cheoil le feiceáil i measc dhaltaí na scoile, ach tá ard-mholadh tuillte ag Nodlaig Ní Bhrollaigh, gobharnóir Ghaelcholáiste Dhoire, a bhuaigh an chéad áit sa chomórtas Amhrán Nua Cheaptha trí Ghaeilge! Ní thig le cór na scoile fanacht leis an amhrán seo a cheol!
Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann is the most important event in the traditional music calendar. For many, it is the culmination of months of hard work and practice as they compete against fellow musicians, singers and dancers to achieve the recognition of being an All-Ireland champion. Gaelcholáiste Dhoire are delighted to announce that Year 9 pupil, Séanna, got 3rd place in the U12 Irish Singing competition! Séanna has a beautifully pure singing voice which Áine Ní Bhrollaigh helped nurture during singing lessons in school, and we’re so proud of Séanna’s remarkable achievement! Somhairle, a friend of the Gaelcholáiste and one of Séanna’s fellow Co. Antrim men secured second place in the competition. Cian and Annie also deserve special mention for reaching the All-Ireland final in their competitions. Such a wealth of talent in the school!
It’s not only the Gaelcholáiste Dhoire pupils whose talents have been recognised on a national platform at this weekend’s Fleadh, with GCD board member Nodlaig Ní Bhrollaigh taking home 1st place in the Newly Composed Song (Irish) category! No doubt the school choir will be keen to practice this piece when they get back in September!
