Bhronn iar-mhéara Léim an Mhadaidh Anne Brolly cóip de Dara Leabhar Dhún Geimhin ar Ghaelcholáiste Dhoire ar na mallaibh agus chaith foireann agus daltaí an Ghaelcholáiste go leor ama ag foghlaim go leor faoi stair an cheantair. Bhí neart eolais sa leabhar faoi Chaisleán Dhún Geimhin agus d’fhoghlaim siad nach Gaelcholáiste Dhoire an chéad scoil a bhí lonnaithe san fhoirgneamh.
B’iontach an tagairt a bhí ann do na Gaeil fadó agus an Ghaeilge á labhairt acu go fóill sa cheantar. Tháinig muid ar thagairt do James McCloskey (Pheigi), agus ar theaghlach cainteoir Ghaeilge ón cheantair ar raibh clú agus cáil air i measc a mhuintire. Is cinnte go mbeadh bród ar James agus ar muintir Mánas Bháin, dá mbeadh a fhios acu go raibh ionadaithe ag Muintir Mhic Bhloscaidh i Ghaelcholáiste Dhoire agus iad ag labhairt leo i nGaeilge i gcónaí.
On a recent visit to Gaelcholáiste Dhoire Anne Brolly presented the school with a copy of the Second Book of Dungiven.
We discovered that the castle was previously used as a school in the 1930s when castle rooms were used to teach wood work and home economics. It was also brought home to students and teachers how strong the Irish language is and was in Co Derry. It has often been said that the Irish Language is in the DNA of this area and that families spoke the language as a first language until the recent past, the Second Book of Dungiven is full of references to this fact.
