Bhí lúcháir agus bród ar phobal na scoile nuair a fógraíodh torthaí GCSE na ndaltaí i mí Lúnasa 2020.
Ba iad seo na chéad scrúduithe GCSE a rinne daltaí na scoile riamh agus níor lig na daltaí céanna iad féin nó a dtuismitheoirí síos ar chóir ar bith.
D’éirigh le gach dalta 5 GCSE ar a laghad a bhaint amach le Mata agus Béarla san áireamh- agus Gaeilge fosta ar ndóigh! Fágann seo go mbeadh Gaelcholáiste Dhoire ar scoil de na scoileanna neamh-roghnaitheacha is fearr gnóthachtáil sa tuaisceart. D’éirigh le gach dalta a rogha chúrsa a dhéanamh don ard leibhéal.
As an 12 dalta sa bhliain ghrúpa, roghnaigh 9 acu fanacht sa chaisleán agus Ard Leibhéil a dhéanamh in ábhair éagsúla. Roghnaigh triúr tabhairt faoi chúrsaí gairmeacha i gColáistí Breis-Oideachais agus d’éascaigh foireann gairmthreorach na scoile an t-aistriú sin dóibh.
De bharr na paindéime ní raibh deis againn na buanna céanna a cheiliúradh ar an bhealach is fearr ach táimid ag súil go mór le hócáid Bronnadh Duaiseanna a eagrú nuair a cheadaítear a leithéid agus an dream iontach seo a thabhairt le chéile le haitheantas cuí a dhéanamh ar a n-éachtaí.
The first group of students to have come through the North’s newest Irish Medium Post Primary School received their GCSE results in August 2020. All students attained at least 5 GCSEs A*-C including English and Maths- setting an extremely high bar!
Principal, Diarmaid Ua Bruadair was extremely proud of the students. “These pupils made history when they founded the school in 2015, they worked really hard over the last number of years as representatives of Gaelcholáiste Dhoire and of the Irish Language.
It is rewarding to witness these marvellous young people attain so highly in their GCSEs- Maith sibh uilig!!”
The majority of the class group will remain in the school, to continue with A Levels in a variety of courses while some of their fellow students have opted to follow a vocational pathway in Further Education Colleges.
Whether students opt to remain in the Gaelcholáiste to follow an academic pathway or continue their education elsewhere, the Gaelcholáiste Dhoire school community owes a debt of gratitude to the founding class of the school and wish them all the very best!
