I saol digiteach an lae inniu, is cuid riachtanach dár saol laethúil é an t-idirlíon. Má tá tú ag déanamh staidéir, ag nascadh le cairde, nó ag iniúchadh do chuid spéiseanna, cuireann an domhan ar líne go leor deiseanna ar fáil. Ach leis na deiseanna seo tá baol ann go gcaithfimid uilig a bheith ar an eolas fúthu.
Tá ár ndaltaí ag fás aníos tráth a bhfuil an tIdirlíon níos inrochtana ná riamh. Fágann sé sin go bhfuil tuiscint níos tábhachtaí ar shábháilteacht Idirlín. Ciallaíonn fanacht sábháilte ar líne daltaí a chosaint ar bhagairtí cosúil le cibearbhulaíocht, ábhar díobhálach, agus an fhéidearthacht go ndéanfadh strainséirí teagmháil leo.
Ní hamháin go mbaineann sábháilteacht Idirlín le rioscaí a sheachaint—baineann sé le roghanna cliste a dhéanamh a chinntíonn do phríobháideacht agus do shlándáil, cibé an bhfuil tú ar na meáin shóisialta, ag baint úsáide as aipeanna, nó ag déanamh obair scoile. Tá sé tábhachtach tuiscint a fháil ar an dóigh chun faisnéise pearsanta a chosaint, iompar míchuí a thuairisciú, agus foghlaim cad atá le déanamh má thagann tú ar rud éigin a fhágann go bhfuil tú míchompordach.
Trí bheith ar an eolas faoi na dúshláin seo agus foghlaim an dóigh chun dul i ngleic leo, beidh tú in ann an t-idirlíon a úsáid go freagrach, contúirtí a sheachaint agus sult a bhaint as gach rud atá le tairiscint aige. Tá múinteoirí Ghaelcholáiste Dhoire anseo chun tú a threorú chun cinntí cliste a dhéanamh ar líne, ag cinntiú go bhfuil na huirlisí agat

In today’s digital world, the internet is an essential part of our daily lives. Whether you're studying, connecting with friends, or exploring your interests, the online world offers many opportunities. But with these opportunities come risks that we all need to be aware of.
Our pupils are growing up in a time when the internet is more accessible than ever. This makes understanding internet safety more important. Staying safe online means protecting yourself from threats like cyberbullying, harmful content, and the possibility of being contacted by strangers.
Internet safety is not just about avoiding risks—it’s about making smart choices that ensure your privacy and security, whether you're on social media, using apps, or doing schoolwork. Understanding how to protect your personal information, knowing how to report inappropriate behavior, and learning what to do if you encounter something that makes you uncomfortable are all part of staying safe online.
By being aware of these challenges and learning how to navigate them, you’ll be able to use the internet responsibly, avoiding dangers while still enjoying everything it has to offer. Your school and teachers are here to guide you in making smart decisions online, ensuring that you have the tools to keep yourself safe in a digital world

The Safeguarding Board for Northern Ireland (SBNI) has now developed an Online Safety Hub. The Hub brings together advice and resources from a range of partner organisations so that young people, carers, and professionals can easily access advice and resources all in one central place. The Young Person’s Hub has supportive and non-judgemental advice for under 13s and 13s and older to help them to manage their online lives safely. I would encourage you to take the time to visit the Online Safety Hub and see the resources available for yourselves! |
